Klara Devlin
“Remember her name, she is in my opinion one of the most amazing and unique new trumpet voices to emerge onto the UK jazz scene … I’m about 2-3 jazz generations in front of her and I’ve never been this excited about a young musician … definitely a stylist who’ll be making new waves.” – Tony Kofi, saxophonist
A finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2024, Klara’s material draws inspiration mainly from the Bebop and Hard Bop eras, mixed with a soupcon of Funk and improv, while her influences span Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Ella Fitzgerald, Herbie Hancock, Roy Hargrove, Chick Corea, and Wayne Shorter.
Now 19, she started playing at the age of five, going onto NYJO Academy, Tomorrow’s Warriors and the Junior Jazz programme at the Royal Academy of Music, where she still studies. Klara has experience of gigging with her own band, as well as with Tomorrow’s Warriors Frontline and Big Band, and the Miranda Radford Quartet.

About Us
We present world-class jazz concerts, two Thursdays a month, open to all: no membership required.
Our concerts take place in the comfortable lounge bar at Eltham Warren Golf Club, which is within walking distance of Eltham town centre and has its own free car park right outside.
We are named after the formidable Hugh & Marion Ockendon, who promoted live jazz in Eltham for over 32 years! Hugh, a classically trained pianist with a deep love of jazz, sadly died in 2020, followed by Marion, a cabaret artist and band vocalist, in October 2022.
Hugh & Marion’s legacy now continues under the stewardship of multi-award-winning vocalist, lyricist and producer Georgia Mancio (Alan Broadbent, ReVoice! Festival, Bobby McFerrin) and acclaimed drummer Dave Ohm (Ian Shaw, Benny Golson, Gregory Porter).
