Saxophonist/composer Vasilis Xenopoulos, and pianist/composer Paul Edis began playing together 20 years ago, when they had both relocated to London to study: Vasilis from Greece via Berklee College in the US, and Paul from the Northeast of England.
Their 2016 duo album, ‘A Narrow Escape’ was followed by a quartet release, ‘Feels Like Home’ in 2024. Both received critical acclaim and radio play in the UK, Europe, and US, with a new album pending later this year.
We present world-class jazz concerts, two Thursdays a month, open to all: no membership required.
Our concerts take place in the comfortable lounge bar at Eltham Warren Golf Club, which is within walking distance of Eltham town centre and has its own free car park right outside.
We are named after the formidable Hugh & Marion Ockendon, who promoted live jazz in Eltham for over 32 years! Hugh, a classically trained pianist with a deep love of jazz, sadly died in 2020, followed by Marion, a cabaret artist and band vocalist, in October 2022.
Hugh & Marion’s legacy now continues under the stewardship of multi-award-winning vocalist, lyricist and producer Georgia Mancio (Alan Broadbent, ReVoice! Festival, Bobby McFerrin) and acclaimed drummer Dave Ohm (Ian Shaw, Benny Golson, Gregory Porter).
