The ever Popular Bruce Adams/ Alan Barnes straight ahead Quintet has been performing for over 33 years.

Having won “Opportunity”knocks” at the age of 14, Bruce (trumpet and flugelhorn) cut his teeth on solid commercial work- on cruise liners, in dance halls and even worked in support of comedy legends Tony Hancock and Freddie Star. He is best known as an inventive jazz soloist and lead player with a spectacular range and power on the instrument.

Alan (saxophones and clarinet) has performed in all manner of bands from Humphrey Lyttelton, via Tommy Chase, to Stan Tracey and Mike Westbrook. He is often to be seen compering as well as performing at major jazz festivals.

Their repertoire covers a wide range from Louis Armstrong to Dizzy Gillespie with an emphasis on accessibility, good humour and a conviction that jazz should swing.
