"a charming host ... some fine original compositions, and tenor playing of a gentle authority; full of passion, lyricism and invention all delivered with a full and vibrant tone" – Jazz Views
Acclaimed saxophonist, composer and educator, Julian Costello, has been an impressive fixture on the UK and European jazz scenes for many years, with several albums to his name. His latest, And All The Birds Were Set Free (33 Records) showcased his superb gifts as both bandleader and songwriter, with award-winning vocalist, Georgia Mancio, featured on two of his original compositions.
Last year also saw the release of the eponymous album with the band, Vertigo, which was featured live in session on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune.
Tonight he plays his own evocative and playful compositions, alongside well known British Pop past and standards. Expect jamming, humour, heart and high level improvisation.
