Luiz Morais

An exquisite homage to the Brazilian Guitar by leading composer, arranger and virtuoso 7-string guitarist Luiz Morais with world-class double bassist Geoff Gascoyne and percussionist Adriano Adewale.

Luiz completed his MA at Berklee College of Music in 2015, is a founding member of the award-winning group Alvorada, and has released two acclaimed albums Nascente (2013) and In The Weave (2021).

This show highlights the beauty, melodic delicacy and rhythmic complexity of the Brazilian guitar tradition, which has enchanted listeners worldwide. Including much-loved classics by masters Villa-Lobos, Baden Powell and Guinga, as well as Morais’ original compositions, the Trio create a magical atmosphere full of ‘saudade’ (longing), warmth and vibrant improvisation.
