Ending a wonderful year of music at Hugh & Marion’s, we are thrilled to invite the supreme vocalist, songwriter and saxophonist, Jacqui Hicks, to lead our Xmas special, alongside acclaimed saxophonist, Jo Fooks.
A former student at both Leeds College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Jacqui also spent 4 years singing with NYJO. She has toured and recorded with Matt Bianco and Limahl, and worked with supergroup Shakatak for the last 30 years. Her long association with legendary British pianist, John Critchinson, yielded 2 acclaimed albums, ‘With a Song in my Heart’ and ‘A Child is Born’.
A winner of ‘Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year’, Jo studied saxophone at both The Guildhall School of Music and Boston’s famed Berklee School of Music on a full scholarship. After recording her debut album ‘Here and Now!’, the legendary British trumpeter, Humphrey Lyttelton, invited her to join his eight-piece band, touring nationally. Jo has also recorded and performed with Acker Bilk, Tina May, Joe Temperley, Scott Hamilton, Elkie Brooks and many others.
