"Donaldson's solos and embellishments are nothing short of a masterclass" - London Jazz News

Pianist and composer, John Donaldson, is a San Sebastian Festival and British Jazz Awards winner, whose impressive credits include:  Freddie Hubbard, Art Farmer, Don Weller, Norma Winstone, Steve Grossman, Eric Alexander, Art Themen, Larry Adler and Nigel Kennedy.

He has collaborated with Pete Brown since 2016, as producer, co-writer and musical director on the album ‘The Shadow Club‘, also featuring Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Carla Olson among others. John’s compositions have also been widely used in films and TV including ‘Stranger Things’,  ‘Gone Girl’, ‘The Marvelous Mrs Maisel’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.

Whilst influenced by piano titans McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, John’s work in these other genres clearly informs his music; incorporating folk and classical traditions as well as jazz. Joined by a stellar band including trumpeter, Steve Waterman (Carla Bley, Tony Coe, Mal Waldron), this promises to be a special night.
